Commercial fishing up close and fall colors tours aboard the Gig Harbor BoatShop's historic purse seiner Veteran.
Here is your chance to see Harbor salmon seiners at work while aboard the historic purse seiner vessel Veteran. Join the BoatShop’s USCG licensed skippers, each with extensive commercial fishing experience, during the rare fall ‘fishing openings’ in Colvos Pass. There are only a handful of days during October/November of each year that Gig Harbor’s fishing fleet can be seen commercial fishing this close to home. 👉https://www.gigharborboatshop.org/commercial-fishing-up-close-24
Young Hands, New Skills is back at the BoatShop!
Join the BoatShop on Monday, November 11th for a hands-on introduction to traditional boatwright skills designed for kids. Skills including ship caulking, hammering boat nails, using a spokeshave, using hand saws, and more! There will be stations set up around the joiner shop where kids will learn to use basic hand tools with one-on-one instruction from our experienced volunteers.
